Congratulations - stopping here is an important step in planning for your future. So many opportunities are out there for you. You just have to know how to seize them. The links and information below should help. If you need more, stop by Ms. French's office

Test prep:You should take the ACT and/or the SAT in April of your junior year. That way, if you don’t like your scores you can take try again before you apply to school.

Good news! These tests don’t measure how smart you are- they measure how well you understand the test itself. This means that you can train to beat the test. Take the following steps early:

  • Learn how the test is set up.
  • Open a free online ACT prep account in the college office
  • Review your PLAN results (10 th graders) and your PSAT results (juniors who took it) – these are excellent practice tools!

Search for Scholarships:Free money is out there to help you pay for college. You just have to find it. Use the links below to connect with reputable scholarship search engines. There are a few keys to a successful scholarship search; start early, stay organized, find scholarships that “match” you and follow through on everything!

You are always invited to use the computer labs in the library before or after school to search for scholarships!

Apply for Financial Aid: Attention seniors! The government and the state have loan and scholarship money to support students. However, you have to meet the following important deadlines in order to qualify.

  • January 15 th – This is the recommended deadline for filling out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Remember, the FAFSA is your “one stop shopping” application for aid. Learn more by visiting www.fafsa.edu.gov
  • July 1 st – This is the absolute deadline for filing the FAFSA if you want to qualify for TOPS scholarships. Learn more about TOPS awards by visiting ….
  • The deadline for institutional aid: This is the aid that you get from the colleges themselves. Each school has its own policies, so be sure to check your schools’ deadlines and policies.
